Firefighters in Marathon County had just arrived at a burning house early Wednesday when they say they noticed signs of foul play.
Two bodies were found inside.
Local officials say the suspicious nature of the fire and an unknown cause of the deaths have led to a criminal investigation.
The victims haven’t been identified.
The Wisconsin Fire Marshal, the state Department of Justice DCI, and the Marathon County District Attorney’s Office are handling the case.
The single-family home located in the town of Day suffered extensive damage.
