The WIAA in Stevens Point announced yesterday that Brillion has been selected as the winner of the prestigious sportsmanship award in boys basketball.
The Lions returned to the tournament field last month for the first time since 2014 before falling to top-seeded West Salem 71-61 in the state Division-3 semifinals.
It marks the 4th time Brillion has been chosen for the sportsmanship honor, with the first three coming in football in 2003, 2004, and again in 2010.
The WIAA/Rural Mutual Insurance Sportsmanship Award is presented to one school and community in each of the State team tournaments that exhibit exemplary sportsmanship.
Award-winners receive a trophy and banner in recognition of the honor that takes into account conduct by athletes, coaches, cheer and support groups, mascots, bands, and spectators.
Ashwaubenon and Gibraltar are two of the schools receiving honorable mention.
