Mary (Peggy) Sullivan was born on December 31, 1935, in Port Hood, Nova Scotia, Canada; daughter of the late Alexander and Flora (Campbell) MacPherson. On November 28, 1959, she married John L. Michael Sullivan in Boston, MA. He preceded her in death on March 28, 1993. John was born and raised in Manitowoc by his parents Cornelius and Agnes Sullivan. John entered the United States Army in 1945 and received his honorable discharge in 1974. In 1951 he was captured during the Korean conflict and was held as a P.O.W. until his release in August of 1953. As a military wife, she lived with John in Japan and Germany. After his military retirement they lived in Hawaii and Metairie, LA before she moved back to Manitowoc in 1993. Peggy was actively involved in the past as a volunteer for Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Lakeshore Humane Society. She also in the past was an active volunteer at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, knitting baby bonnets for many newborn babies.
Survivors include special friends: Rita Muench, Nate Muench, and Kathy Kautzer; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive as well as her pet dog Mindy. She was preceded in death by her parents: Alexander and Flora MacPherson; her husband: John L. Michael Sullivan; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Ann (Ted) Parsons, Terry (Hub) Turner.
Cremation has taken place at the All-Care Cremation Center in Manitowoc. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home in Manitowoc, 928 S. 14th Street. The Rev. David Beaudry will officiate with burial of her cremated remains at Arlington National Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home on Tuesday from 9:30 am until the time of services at 11:00 am.
