There have been several house fires in the area over the last couple of weeks, but it appears as though one of them was started intentionally.
32-year-old Kari Seyer is facing an arson charge, along with Obstructing an Officer in connection to a Thursday morning fire in Green Bay.
Seyer reportedly lived in an upstairs apartment in a home in the 1100 block of South Taylor Street and claimed to have come home to find the fire already in progress.
Seyer’s husband told authorities that $400 that was stashed in a dresser was missing, which led to police asking the woman some more questions.
She claimed to be in an abusive relationship and was battling depression, which is what caused her to start the fire.
Before being taken to the Brown County Jail, Seyer was evaluated at a crisis center.
