The Sheboygan Police Department has released their statistics from 2021, and most of them are down from 2020.
The stats were released as a part of the city’s Annual Performance Report, which breaks down how all 14 city departments did over the last calendar year.
Officers with the Sheboygan Police Department had to use significantly less force last year than they had to over the previous 4 years, with the biggest drop coming in the number of times they had to display their firearms.
Officers had to show their weapons 51 times in 2021, which is down from 72 times in 2020, and the lowest number since 2017, when that happened 62 times.
In total, officers had to use force 105 times last year, which is down from 139 times the previous year.
Also, the number of search warrants conducted is down significantly.
In fact, that number has dropped from 126 in 2018 down to 68 in 2021.
It should also be noted that there were seven citizen complaints filed against the department, which is the lowest number since 2017 when only three were reported.
