The anticipated showdown for sole possession of first place in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference ‘never materialized’ last night. After trailing by four at halftime, the Valders boys basketball team ‘roared back’ to crush New Holstein…78-50..in the Huskies gym. Vikings coach Trevor Schwoerer tells us his club ‘came out on fire’ in the 2nd half to outscored the host team 50-to-18!’ Treynor Sundsmo had 18-points & 7 assists, Jake Biemborn (bime’-born) added 18….‘all coming in the 2nd half,’ and 5-blocks. Kyle Tuma posted a double-double: 10 points & 16-rebounds. The two teams also played for the ‘tabletop’, a rivalry that dates back to 1933! The Vikings (7-and-oh, 13-and-1)…travel to Brillion on Friday. Valders is now the 8th ranked team in state division-3…according to the Wisconsin coaches’ rankings.
