A Manitowoc woman is facing charges after she allegedly forged an invoice from an attorney.
According to a report from an officer with the Manitowoc Police Department, an attorney contacted them on February 17th to inform them of the situation.
The attorney explained that he was contacted by an individual who said that she had been in contact with the suspect for several months regarding guardianship of the suspect’s children.
At some point, the suspect sent the woman a fake invoice with the attorney’s name on it.
The suspect knows the attorney because he was representing her in a different case.
The woman gave the suspect $1,705 under the impression that she would give it to the attorney.
The suspect was charged after she was arrested for stealing money from Taco Bell, and was already in police custody.
Her new charges include Unauthorized Use of an Individual’s Personal Identifying lnformation or Documents, Theft by Fraud, and one count each of Felony and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping.
