The head of the Manitowoc County government says they have an aggressive highway project schedule but admitted inflation is real and their number one concern.
While on WOMT’s Be My Guest program, County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer explained, “The asphalt prices are up 20-percent just the other day, and, we’re going to reorganize or change the projects as we see them. But, I worry about inflation in the long run.”
He went on to say that the price of oil controls asphalt prices.
He said, “That goes up and down in the short run but if we have continuing 10 percent inflation for a couple of years, that will challenge us.”
Ziegelbauer added, “It will challenge every business and person in this economy. We all hope the inflation will come down and that federal policy-makers will make good decisions.”
