The former Sheboygan Press building located at 632 Center Avenue will be transformed into apartments.
The Sheboygan City Plan Commission approved a conditional use permit for the project submitted by Cardinal Capital Management earlier this week.
The organization plans to create 29 market-rate apartments in the building, all of which are expected to fit into the city’s parameters to be listed as affordable housing.
The structure was built in 1924 and served as the home of the Sheboygan Press newspaper until 2019.
Since it was also listed on the National Register of Historic Places the following year, Cardinal Capital has stated that it will be maintaining its historic nature during its renovation.
