Steven Edward Vohwinkel, 69, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on March 9, 2022. Steve was born on January 2, 1953 to Norbert and Mary (Mann) Vohwinkel in Green Bay. He married Rose (Brennan) on May 5, 1984 in Manitowoc, and they were members of Faith Church. Steve was a member of the US Air Force in 1972.
Steve loved the Lord and enjoyed life to the fullest with his wife of 37 years and together with their 3 sons, they operated Lawncare Miscellaneous since 1992 and cared for elderly with lawn/snow services etc., and he also loved to prepare for them special meals and canned goods, and cookies. Grandpa Steve dearly loved to visit his five grandchildren to campfire, fish, bake cookies, watch Frozen or play games. He and his sons were avid Packer fans and loved to share sports events; Steve loved to garden, camp, and golf with his sons and close family friend, Brandon Zich.
He also shared his passion for cooking as the head cook at the annual Community Christmas Dinner he hosted with his family and other churches for many years at Faith Church. Steve took every opportunity in his business and in the community to help others know the love of Jesus Christ in the Bible studies he held at Manitowoc County Jail and the YMCA. Steve strongly believed in the healing power of Jesus Christ that was reflected in his own life set free of alcohol and drug addictions for 35 years. He dedicated his life to help others obtain that freedom by encouraging them and sharing the Word of God to enable them to have that living hope. His grandson Jacob, at the age of 7, decided to follow Jesus and asked to be baptized by his grandpa Steve and his father Matthew.
Steve is survived by his wife 37 years, Rose, and his 3 beloved sons and wives, Eric (Carrie), Jesse (Ashleigh), Matthew (Olivia), and his precious Grandchildren Jacob, Judah, Jack, Lucy, and Ellie. He also has a brother Bucky (Diane), and sister Lori Butt; and inlaws Cyn (Wayne) VanDeHey, Lyn Hardtke, Kathie (Bill) Oleary, Connie Sieracki, Buck (Jackie) Brennan, Annie (Jerry)Bieberitz, Brian (Jackie)Brennan, Amy (Kurt) Scharrer, Bud (Kim) Brennan, Tina (Mike) Kratz along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lee, Bonnie, and Margie and brother Chris, 2 nephews; and inlaws, Dean and Virginia Brennan and their son, Todd, and their 2 daughters Sandy and Karen, and 2 nephews.
There will be no visitation but the family will celebrate Steve’s life and continue to share our love for him at a gathering in the future. Cremation has taken place at the Harrigan Parkside Crematory and Chapel. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Steve’s name.
