Brillion is returning to the State Boys Basketball Tournament this week for the first time since the Lions program won-it-all 10-years ago.
Brillion captured the Sectional crown Saturday night with a spine-tingling 39-38 comeback win over the Freedom Irish at Two Rivers High School.
Lions’ junior guard Caeden Holly spoke with us about his team being able to rally from 13-down in a game that had a premium on points.
“It was all on the defensive end,” he explained. “Going into halftime, we were talking about how we were going to stop them and ran that to perfection.”
6′ 8″ junior forward Jeremy Lorenz played all 36 minutes in what was a very physical game.
“It’s definitely one of the more physical games I’ve had,” he said. “They love to push and shove, and they weren’t going to give any ground. I had to battle, but in a game like this it doesn’t’ bother you when you know what’s at stake.”
The Lions are seeded 4th in the Division-3 state field and they’ll meet top-seeded West Salem Thursday afternoon at 1:35 p.m. in the Kohl Center with game-2 to pit Lake Country Lutheran against St. Thomas More.
The Brillion game is expected to be broadcast on 107.9 FM WOMT.
