A man from New Mexico has been sentenced to 51 months in federal prison for driving to Wisconsin to have sex with a minor.
33-year-old Matthew Engelhardt was talking to an undercover agent two years ago when he thought he was asking a 14-year-old girl to be his girlfriend.
Engelhardt also asked the girl if she would have sex with him.
The conversations went on for two years before the suspect said he would be coming to Wisconsin last April to see her.
He was arrested at a retail store in Janesville on June 30th, 2021.
