Ammo, Inc. announced the donation of one-million rounds of ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces fighting the Russian invasion.
The announcement came earlier this week.
During an interview of Friday’s ‘Jim and Rick Show,’ Fred Wagenhals, the CEO of Ammo, Inc., told the story of a conversation with NASCAR owner, Richard Childress.
“Richard called me and said ‘What can we do about that?’ I said, ‘We’ll donate some ammo.’ He said, ‘How much do you want to donate?’ I said, ‘How about half a million rounds?’ Richard said, ‘Let’s make it a million rounds.'”
As the war rages on in Ukraine, Wagenhals said the ammunition order has been filled and is waiting for one final step.
“We’ve already got the million rounds of ammo sitting on the ground in Europe. The next step is the proper paperwork to get it to the right people and the people in the Ukraine government that will put it out in the proper hands.” He added, “…right now the paperwork is being put together to do that.”
The company is building a 160,000-square-foot state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Manitowoc. It is scheduled to open this July.
