The Silver Lake College womens basketball team fell to NAIA school Indiana Northwest 69 to 54 in a game played yesterday at the UW-Manitowoc campus. The game was tied at 16 after the first quarter but an eight point second stanza had the lady Lakers down 32 to 24 at halftime. SLC rallied in the third quarter to take a 39 to 38 lead but with the game tied at 42 the Redhawks went on a 19 to 8 run thru the early part of the fourth quarter to lead 61 to 50 and they went on to win by 15 points. The visitors from Gary Indiana outrebounded the home team 39 to 23 and went 16 of 20 from the free throw line compared to 6 of 9 for silver lake college. Danelle (duh’-nell) Buck lead the Lakers with 16 points and Ashley Rumlow chipped in 13. Chloe (klow’-ee) Salmon (sol-mon) of the Redhawks led all scorers with 27 points and Alexis Blake added 12. Indiana Northwest snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to 9 and 12 while SLC’s three game winning streak was stopped and they fall to 8 and 7. Coach Mike Flentje’s (flen-gee’s) team will play UW-Manitowoc on Wednesday night with tipoff set for 5:30.
