Mobile phone carrier T-Mobile announced a massive data breach last Summer that compromised the sensitive personal information of over 53 million current, former, and prospective customers, including over 430,000 Wisconsin residents.
The state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, as well as Attorney General Josh Kaul, issued a statement urging all Wisconsinites who believe they were impacted to take action to protect their information from identity theft.
Attorney General Karl suggests anyone who believes they were impacted using a credit monitoring service to track your credit report, which can alert you if major changes occur, such as new accounts being opened.
Also, they say it’s a good idea to contact the three major credit bureaus to place a free credit freeze on your credit report or place a fraud alert on your credit report.
