Manitowoc County Ag Educator Angie Ulness
The new UW-Extension Agriculture Educator for Manitowoc County says she’s excited to be chosen for the position.
Angie Ulness recently took over the job replacing Scott Gunderson who retired 2 years ago in July.
During an appearance on WOMT’s Be My Guest program, Ulness spoke about the focus of her job.
“If I don’t know the answer, I can get the answer from somebody else,” Ulness explained. “So, bringing people together and focusing on new technology, new ideas. Maybe one type of process or technology works better on one farm and not the other to share ideas.”
Ulness also revealed that Manitowoc is the number-1 county in Wisconsin for milk production.
“The 59,000 cows in our county produce over 1.46 billion pounds of milk a year,” she said. “That’s a lot and with how many people we have in Manitowoc County…the 78,000 or so we can provide 6-gallons of milk and 5-pounds of cheese each day to every single person in Manitowoc County.”
The UW-Madison grad said she met her husband, Mark, while in college.
She’s a native of Door County and grew up on a registered dairy farm, so is right at home when meeting and talking with producers.
