The Green Bay City Council has voted to reduce the fines for individuals caught with marijuana.
Under the new ordinance, anyone caught with 28 grams or less of the drug in a private space will only have to pay court costs, while those caught with the same amount in public will be fined between $1 and $500.
Community service was also included as a possible substitution for that fine.
The rules are different for those under 21, as regardless of where they were caught with marijuana, they will be fined between $100 and $200 for their first offense, and the fines would increase with each subsequent offense.
