Several major league baseball players are disputing a report that a final contract agreement is “within striking distance.”
The story by Sportsnet’s Ben Nicholson-Smith has been called “beyond absurd” by an insider and Zack Britton said the information is “not accurate.”
Players reportedly left Saturday’s negotiating session upset and unconvinced that the owners are willing to negotiate in earnest.
Today (February 28th) is the last day where a deal could be struck without the cancellation of some regular-season games.
The biggest battlefront is apparently over the luxury tax threshold and efforts to stop some teams from tanking but there are big divisions on other points as well.
