Lieutenant Karen Elsenpeter was selected as the Two Rivers Police Department’s officer of the year for 2020.
Outside factors forced the postponement of the award’s announcement several times, but she was officially recognized before the Two Rivers City Council during their Monday night meeting.
Chief Brian Kohlmeier spoke before the council where he said, “Karen Elsenpeter was specifically nominated because Karen is always positive, and is never heard complaining. Karen generally cares for those she works with and routinely helps others and their families. Karen is always there to help and will drop whatever she is doing, letting others know they are important.”
He also noted that this is not her first time receiving the award.
“Karen Elsenpeter is a two-time recipient of the Officer of the Year Award, receiving her first in the year 2000,” Kohlmeier said. “She is the third Two Rivers Police Department member to receive this honor in the history of the award.”
Recognition of her selection was an action item before the council and it passed unanimously.
