Two Eastern Wisconsin legislators have teamed up on a pair of bills that have each passed in the Assembly.
The first of the two bills written by De Pere Senator Andre Jacque and Assemblyman Paul Tittl of Manitowoc is the Eyeglass Bill.
Rep. Tittl explained that “The Lion’s Club ships over 450,000 pairs of glasses annually to developing countries. However, people in Wisconsin are unable to access the same service because of possible lawsuits.”
This bill creates an exemption from liability under certain circumstances for nonprofit organizations such as the Lion’s Club regarding the distribution of previously owned eyeglasses.
The other bill is the Estate Appraiser Bill.
This proposal will limit the time a lawsuit can be brought against a real estate appraiser to five years following the date of the report.
This change is in line with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USAP) recordkeeping requirements which permit appraisers to destroy records after five years if state law allows.
This measure is now headed to Governor Tony Evers’ desk for final approval.
