The Manitowoc Public Library has responded to a recent incident that occurred at the library.
As we reported yesterday, a 22-year-old man was taken into police custody after it was learned that he sexually assaulted a minor in a bathroom inside the library.
Library staff were cooperative with the Police Officers and quickly provided them with security footage, which helped them identify the assailant.
In a statement, library leaders said, “Above all, Manitowoc Public Library values the safety and well-being of all library visitors, so we were particularly saddened to learn about the events of February 12, 2022. Library staff are highly trained to ensure the safety and security of our visitors: staff are present throughout the building and regularly perform security sweeps. Even with the best security measures, tragic events can still happen. Although we believe this was a highly isolated incident, we encourage everyone to be aware of their surroundings in a public place.”
The news team at Seehafer News has a policy that we do not release the name of any suspects until they have had their bail set, and their charges are official.
The suspect, in this case, has not had his day in court as of yet.
