While we didn’t get the snow that was forecast for yesterday, freezing rain has left a thin layer of ice all over the Lakeshore area.
Roads and sidewalks are quite slick this morning, so motorists are being advised to slow down, and give themselves some extra space between themselves and the vehicle in front of you.
When walking on slick sidewalks, you are encouraged to walk like a penguin.
Take short choppy steps and keep your chest over your feet to help reduce the chance for a slip and fall.
Manitowoc Public Utilities has also issued a statement saying that they are prepared to address any potential outages caused by the weather.
For after-hours emergencies, residents are encouraged to call 920-683-4622.
If you receive a busy signal, you are encouraged to be patient and call back again.
Also, Pozorski Hauling & Recycling in Manitowoc has delayed their collections for today.
If road conditions do not improve by 7:00 a.m., the trash and recycling collectors said they will postpone their collection to tomorrow, and push the rest of the collections days back 24 hours.
They apologized for the inconvenience, and said “We thank you for your anticipated understanding.”
