U.S. Senator Ron Johnson says if Russian President Vladimir Putin invades Ukraine, “sanctions should be levied.”
Johnson was speaking at a Saturday event in Madison for the Republican Women of Dane County.
He says Russia needs to be punished if it invades.
Some American intelligence officials have said the order has already been given.
The White House reported Sunday night that President Biden has agreed to meet with Putin for a summit if Russia doesn’t carry out the invasion.
