State Assemblyman Paul Tittl has once again shown his undying support for mental health reform in Wisconsin.
The State Representative from Manitowoc stood before the Senate yesterday, where he testified in favor of Senate Bill 901, which would create a Mental Health Clubhouse Grant Program.
This program would allow non-residential recovery-based programs providing support and services to people with diagnosed mental health issues the opportunity to apply for a matching grant through the state for up to $50,000.
Tittl explained in a statement that these clubhouses, such as Painting Pathways in Manitowoc, “provide a safe space for [people with mental health illnesses] to gather and spend time together… Also, clubhouses offer help concerning education, housing, and employment. They deliver that assistance in a very cost-effective way.”
The funding for the bill would be limited to $500,000 a year and would take effect on July 1st, 2023 if passed.
