The Two Rivers City Council approved the sale and redevelopment for the former Uni-Mart property on Washington Street during their Monday general meeting.
Wine Not, LLC purchased the property for $10,000 and agreed to invest at least $100,000 into the property within the next 18 months. Wine Not has ambitious investment plans for the property.
“They’ve got some very nice renderings. Expect that they’ll be investing $240-360,000 into the building. It will return to the tax rolls, productive use, and will actually be a very attractive addition to the Main Street in Two Rivers,” said City Manager Greg Buckley following the decision.
Two Rivers City Hall took to Facebook to celebrate the new businesses planned for the location: Two Rivers Rentals, an outdoor recreational rental shop, Briars and Brambles, a shop offering gift, decor, and clothing, as well as Buckets Gelato, an outlet for gelato.
The City also noted that they acquired the abandoned property in 2020 with the purpose of redeveloping what they referred to as an eyesore.
Buckley is bullish about what this means for Two Rivers, calling the progress “a happy ending to what’s been, frankly, an ugly, blighted property on our Main Street for way too long.”
