
All four Manitowoc hockey teams that were competing to go to state this weekend were successful in their endeavor.
According to Robert Pinkerton with the Manitowoc Youth Hockey Association, the Squirt C started it all off with a 5-3 win over Marinette on Friday night. Luke Place led the scoring with 3 goals and added he added an assist, followed by Edward Barta with 2 goals. Jaxon Lehman added an assist and Xander Renard stopped 5 of the 8 shots he faced.
They followed up on Sunday with a 6-2 win over Shawano B. Oliver Wetzel led the scoring with 2 goals and an assist, followed by Luke Place with 2 goals and Edward Barta with 1 goal. Mila Johnson and Carlos Palacios added assists. Xander Renard stopped 8 of the 10 shots he faced.
The Squirt B squad beat Marinette on Saturday by a score of 3-1. Trevor Pinkerton, Mason Skarvan, and Nick Hyde all scored 1 goal each. Braden Dickrell had 2 assists and Brenalyn Goetz had 1. Colt Wernli stopped 12 of the 13 shots he faced.
The Peewee C team beat Shawano B by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. Scoring was led by Owen Christensen with 2 goals while Logan Bratt added 1. AJ Harper and Evan Schaefer each added an assist. Fred Busse stopped 22 of the 23 shots he faced.
The Peewee B group beat Marinette by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. Scoring was led by Corey Veleke with 2 goals. D’Angelo Flores, Aiden Skarvan, and Bru Wernli each added a goal and Amelia Suchomel, Adeline Massart, and Bru Wernli had assists. Collin Gamble stopped 13 of the 14 shots he faced.
The Bantam A team automatically qualified for state since the tournament is being held in Manitowoc.
That tournament is being held the first weekend in March, as is the Squirt tournament.
The Peewee tournament is the following weekend.
