A truck broke through the ice on Lake Winnebago this weekend.
According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office, a 51-year-old man was on the lake alone in his truck at around 2:30 PM Saturday, when the ice gave way about a mile north of Frazier Point at Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac.
The man was able to escape his truck, but not before the lower half of his body was submerged in the water.
The man was also able to keep his phone dry and called 911 before taking refuge in a nearby ice shanty until help arrived.
Deputies received help from someone they called a Good Samaritan with a UTV, which they used to bring the man back to shore.
The man did not report any injuries and was released.
