The City of Algoma is getting some major help in funding their breakwater repair project.
The Kewaunee County city is set to receive an estimated $19 million from the federal government to help fix the community staple.
Senator Tammy Baldwin helped push for the infrastructure funds to fix the breakwater, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be leading repairs.
The project does not have a scheduled start date as of yet, but we do know that the money is expected to be issued within the next five to ten years.
This project has been on the minds of city leaders for quite some time, but they voiced their surprise when they learned the funds were actually coming.
