It happens quite often.
You pick up your phone, and accidentally hit the emergency button, or incidentally dial 911.
But what are you supposed to do when that happens?
The Manitowoc Police Department is telling people to stay on the line.
In a post on Facebook, the Department stated that “Dispatchers take thousands of 911 calls every year. When a person calls 911 Officers need to make sure the caller is okay, even if the call was accidental. By staying on the line, you will allow Emergency Dispatchers to gather pertinent information and have an Officer to your location as soon as possible.”
