A Deputy with the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Department is recovering from a COVID infection, and his family is asking for the public’s help.
Channing Pompa was hospitalized on September 26th after he spent a week at home battling the virus, and was placed on a ventilator just over a week later.
On October 12th, he was taken to another hospital to receive specialized treatment, but in a spell of good news, he is now recovering in a rehabilitation facility.
His family has set up a GoFundMe page to help them pay for his extensive medical bills, which as of this morning has received donations from 363 individuals.
Pompa has been with the Sheriff’s Department for a year, but prior to that spent 12 years in the U.S. Military with 11 of those years spent on active duty.
A post on the GoFundMe page says that Pompa is “expected to have up to one month in rehab and will then come home.”
