Monica R. Geigel, age 88, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Thursday evening, January 27, 2022 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Monica was born on July 24, 1933 in Cato, WI. She was the daughter of the late George and Rosa Lensmire Kohlbeck. Monica was a graduate of Reedsville High School with the class of 1951. She had been employed at Mirro Aluminum in earlier years. Monica married Vincent W. Scheuer on October 15, 1955 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Monica and her first husband Vincent owned and operated the Hometown Ice Cream Shoppe in Two Rivers. She also was a newspaper carrier for the Lakeshore Chronicle for many years. Vincent preceded her in death in May 1985. She later married William V. Geigel Sr. on September 12, 1986 at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Monica and her husband Bill traveled to many places in the United States and enjoyed fishing trips to Northern Wisconsin. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Monica was an excellent homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She dearly loved and enjoyed time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Bill, eight children, Bruce Scheuer, Manitowoc, Julie Koenig, Manitowoc, Bridget Geigel, Manitowoc, Patrick (Laura) Geigel, DePere, Sharon (Mike) Koeppen, Manitowoc, Tim Geigel, Manitowoc, Ray Geigel, Manitowoc, Colleen Geigel, Sheboygan Falls; daughter-in-law, Sue Geigel, Manitowoc; one brother, Cyril Kohlbeck, Ashwaubenon; five sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kohlbeck, Manitowoc, Anita Wiza, Two Rivers, Donna Scheuer, Manitowoc, Mary (Jim) Kunz, Manitowoc, Bernice Geigel, Ashwaubenon; eight grandchildren, Brent, Drew, Michael, Marina, Olivia, Mason, Vincent, and Kayla; four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rosa Kohlbeck, her first husband, Vincent Scheuer, two sons, Bill Geigel Jr., Jim Geigel, son-in-law, David Koenig; seven brothers and six sisters-in-law, Roger Kohlbeck, Abdon (Gertrude) Kohlbeck, Carole Kohlbeck, Emanuel (Grace) Kohlbeck, George Kohlbeck, Kenneth (Marie) Kohlbeck, Gordon (Verna Mae) Kohlbeck, and Herb (Marie) Kohlbeck; three brothers-in-law, George Scheuer, James Scheuer, and Lorian Wiza.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Jason Blahnik. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Two Rivers. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m. Following the funeral service there will be a luncheon held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center, 620 North Water Street, Manitowoc, located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home.
