The Clipper City Chordsmen this week announced their Barbershopper of the Year.
The 2022 honoree is Robert Brey, who was presented with the award last Tuesday during the group’s annual meeting held at the Silver Valley Banquet Hall. Brey has been a member of the Clipper City Chordsmen and Barbershop Harmony Society for 25 years and served as District Secretary for 11 of the past 15 years. Bob remains active as the Chorus Manager for the Chordsmen, served as their Treasurer and has sung in both the Lead (leed) and Bass (base) Sections of the chorus. He was also recently inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Land O’ Lakes District for the Barbershop Harmony Society.
The Barbershopper of the Year award is a special recognition that is given out to a member who has gone above and beyond what is normally expected and benefited the entire chapter as a result. In addition to the BOTY, two other awards were presented: the coveted Sparkplug honor went to Don Lewellen, newly elected President and former VP of Marketing for the chorus. And, the Rookie of the Year award was presented to Donald Lachowicz recognizing his enthusiastic participation as a new member.
