Officials in the Public Works Department in De Pere have issued a warning after several crews of garbage collectors found loose needles in trash cans.
Department officials explained that crews located the needles in the back of one of their trucks last month, but thankfully no one was poked.
While no one was injured this time, they very easily could have been.
The Public Works Department has now shared how to properly dispose of needles, which includes putting them into a strong plastic container.
There is no way for workers to know if these needles were used for medical purposes, or for the use of illegal drugs, but either way, loose needles pose a huge danger to those who collect your trash.
