As has been the tradition for several years, the snow sculptors on Team USA were back at Lambeau Field this week carving snow for the Packer’s playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.
One member of the team, Michael Sponholtz, is a Mishicot native who has been honing his craft carving snow since 1985.
Last year the team sculpted a giant packer helmet, an ornamental “Go Pack Go” and an artistic representation of a wide receiver catching a ball, and tapping his toes to stay in bounds.
The reason the sculptures are done so far in advance this year is because the team will be in Stillwater Minnesota for the World Championships in Snow Sculpture, which starts tomorrow.
