Two area residents are among the 54 individuals recently pardoned by Governor Tony Evers.
Richard Bouril of Manitowoc was 17 years old when he was convicted for selling marijuana to a confidential informant nearly 40 years ago.
Upon his release, Bouril opened up a coffee shop known as Culture Café, which has since closed.
Bouril has also been an active part of the Manitowoc community.
Meanwhile, Neil Verbanac of Random Lake was convicted of stealing materials from job sites he worked on over three decades ago.
He has since worked as a truck driver.
While these men have moved on from their previous convictions, their pardons mean they are now able to be on a jury, hold public office, and hold certain professional licenses they’d previously been denied.
