Manitowoc County continues to struggle with COVID-19.
Manitowoc County Health Officer Stephanie Lambert was on WOMT and WCUB Radio yesterday morning (January 13th), where she reported that one in fifty County residents have contracted the virus.
“In the last seven days, there have been an additional 1,105 confirmed cases, and 115 probable cases of COVID,” Lambert stated. “More than 2% of County residents have tested positive in the last two weeks, not counting home tests.”
The seven-day rolling average has also jumped up to 161 cases per day, which is double what it was previously.
Also, seven deaths were reported over the past week.
Due to the influx of cases, Lambert and the Health Department are asking the public to help them with contact tracing.
“If you test positive, you were likely infectious up to two days prior to symptom onset,” Lambert explained. “Let people you have been around know that they have been exposed so they can take the appropriate precautions. If you have been exposed, wear a well-fitting mask for 10 days when around others.”
Lambert ended her report by saying “Hang in there. We will get through this.”
