Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski says it is his department’s responsibility to search a burned-out vehicle after the flames are extinguished.
That didn’t happen after a car crashed and burned Sunday morning.
Lipski apologized Tuesday for his firefighters who failed to find the body of 21-year-old Jenna Reichartz inside the burned-out car.
A worker at a tow lot made the discovery three hours later.
Lipski apologized to the family at a Tuesday news conference, saying an investigation is being conducted to find out how this happened.
