A 22-year-old man arrested in northern Alabama is accused of using a phone app to hire someone to commit a crime for him.
Federal investigators say Matthias Jacob Edward Mann was caught when the person he thought he was hiring to kidnap and rape a woman in Wisconsin turned out to be an undercover police officer.
Mann was taken into custody in Hartselle, Alabama last week.
The woman told investigators she met the suspect online and chatted with him on Twitter.
She said they hadn’t met in person.
The woman’s name hasn’t been released.
