A family pet is still alive thanks to the quick actions of EMS crews in the Valders Fire Department.
The Department was called to the scene of a mobile home fire on East Jackson Street Saturday afternoon, where they were informed that the family canine was still in the structure.
One team of firefighters began battling the blaze, while another entered the home, and found the dog not breathing in in a rear bedroom.
The crew was able to resuscitate the pet before transporting it to a veterinarian in Reedsville.
No other injuries were reported, and the dog is reported to be doing well.
The fire was reported to have started accidentally in the kitchen and resulted in the family being displaced.
