A Rock County judge has found a defendant not legally responsible for killing his 97-year-old grandmother.
Jamie Beggs entered a guilty plea Tuesday to a charge of first-degree intentional homicide.
The judge determined the 37-year-old Beggs was responsible due to his mental illness.
Beggs was living with the victim when he stabbed and strangled her last June inside her home just outside of Janesville.
A doctor diagnosed Beggs with mental illness before the plea was entered.
