The last month has been a bit of a struggle for the Green Bay Area Public School District.
With the threats made to Preble High School, and the student found with a gun at East High School prior to the winter break, safety is a big concern within the district.
Now that students are making their way back into class today, some changes have been implemented.
The main change was made in regard to student IDs.
The district is mandating that all students entering the schools have their IDs checked by monitors and administration, while also wearing their IDs throughout the day so they are visible.
Also, the only entry point at East High School is Door #1, with all other doors locked throughout the day.
Another issue affecting the School District is a staffing shortage. The reason for the shortage is “due to an increase in staff experiencing COVID-19 symptoms after Winter Recess.”
This could result in some schools going to a virtual model until the issue is resolved.
