New Year’s Day 2022 looked a lot like the year just completed. At least nine people were injured in shootings over the weekend.
That led Milwaukee’s acting mayor, Cavalier Johnson, to call the violence “unacceptable” and to say the “ongoing turmoil must end.”
One of the wounded people was a nine-year-old boy and a 40-year-old man was killed.
No names have been released.
Johnson says he will finalize the city’s new public safety and violence reduction plan.
He says reducing violence is the highest priority for his administration.
