The Rahr-West Art Museum in Manitowoc is hosting an exhibit featuring the works of Belarusian artist Mac Chagall.
Chagall: Le Cirque features numerous lithographs taken from the 1967 portfolio Le Cirque by Marc Chagall.
Lithography is described by The Met Museum as “a planographic printmaking process in which a design is drawn onto a flat stone (or prepared metal plate, usually zinc or aluminum) and affixed by means of a chemical reaction.”
Le Cirque contains twenty-three colored lithographs, three of them double-sided, and fifteen black and white lithographs accompanied by text written by Chagall.
Chagall: Le Cirque will be on exhibit at the Rahr-West Art Museum through February 13th.
Museum hours and visitor information can be found at RahrWestArtMuseum.org.
