A fire at an Appleton residence last night has left one person without a home.
The Appleton Fire Department was informed of the fire on West Franklin Street at around 11:30 PM when a caller explained that a couch on their front porch had caught fire.
The caller then went up to the home and alerted the resident inside.
That individual was able to escape the home safely, along with their canine companion.
Crews quickly arrived and extinguished the blaze, but not before it caused around $75,000 in damage.
The incident resulted in significant smoke and heat damage to the home, causing it to be unlivable.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
