Hazardous travel conditions are expected Wednesday and Wednesday evening due to poor visibility in dense fog, particularly north and west of the Fox Valley.
Rain and snowmelt, combined with storm drain grates clogged with snow and ice, may result in some ponding of water and minor urban flooding Wednesday night.
A strong low-pressure system will track northwest of the region Wednesday night into Thursday. This system will generate strong winds, with southwest to west winds gusting in excess of 45 or 55 mph Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
Showers and a few thunderstorms are also possible ahead of a cold front Wednesday night. The storms may bring strong winds aloft to the surface, resulting in wind gusts over 55 mph. Some damage to trees and powerlines, and sporadic power outages, will be possible across the region late Wednesday night and Thursday.
Spotters are requested to report wind gusts over 45 mph Wednesday night and Thursday.
