Money from the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act could be used to fix lead pipes in Milwaukee.
The health issue is so widespread the funding will fall well short of fixing the entire problem.
Wisconsin is set to receive more than 250 million dollars. Milwaukee public officials say they will only get a portion of that and fixing all 67,000 lead service lines in the city could cost up to 750 million dollars.
About 1000 have been removed over the last five years.
