With winter weather approaching rapidly, Waukesha officials say they will move the memorial which has taken over Veterans Park to the Waukesha County Historical Society.
The memorial honors the victims of the Christmas parade tragedy that left six dead and more than 60 injured.
A commission is being formed to create a permanent memorial.
Local officials say it will include many of the items that have been left in the park.
City administrator Kevin Lahner says the permanent marker will be respectful to the victims and reflective of what the community wants.
