The Two Rivers 2022 Executive Budget has been approved.
We spoke with City Manager Greg Buckley, who explained that at their meeting on Monday, the Council approved the budget in a unanimous vote, although one member was not present.
Buckley estimated that the 2022 tax bill would be mailed out by the end of the week.
“The City’s share of the tax rate went up 1.89%,” Buckley explained. “Taking into account all of the taxing entities on the bill, a $100,000 house will see their tax bill in Two Rivers go up by about $20.”
The portion of the budget that most people look to is the capital project section.
Buckley gave us a brief overview of the planned projects for 2022.
He said the City will be “reconstructing 17th Street from the downtown area over to the area of the beach, doing some resurfacing on Zlatnik Drive, also on the east side, replacing one our large snow blowers, which goes on the front of a front end loader…and paying the balance on the new aerial platform truck for the Fire Department, which is already ordered.”
Buckley estimated the 17th Street project to cost around $1.2 million after the full reconstruction and the replacement of the underground utilities.
He said they are being a little less ambitious than they were this year, but will be using their portion of the money given by the County from the American Rescue Plan Act to help pay for it.
