If regulators give the Madison Water Utility the rate increase it is asking for it would mean customers’ water bills would more than double over the last six years.
The additional five dollars would increase the average monthly water bill in Madison to 35 dollars. Leaders at the utility are seeking their third rate hike in the last four years. It would develop 12 million dollars in additional revenue – money that would be used for new pipes and paying down some debt.
It isn’t known when a decision might be made.
