Madison police say the arrest of a 13-year-old driver who wrecked a car while he was high should make the community “extremely concerned.”
Officers say they were able to find the young suspect by detecting the strong smell of marijuana.
He had been hiding under a stairwell after running from the scene of a wreck on the Beltline at about 8:00 am Tuesday.
The child’s name hasn’t been released. A police dog was part of the search, but officers say the smell of marijuana was so strong – it led them directly to the young suspect.
The vehicle he was driving had been reported stolen.
